Hi! I'm a sociology PhD student, originally from Massachusetts, who began independent research as an undergraduate at NYU Abu Dhabi. In that project, I interviewed Emirati men about their roles in gender change in the UAE. I love qualitative research because it allows for listening hard, digging deep, and challenging my own assumptions about how the world works.
Before we adopted him, my cat Emilio spent months living in a laundry room - the shelter had named him Maytag!
My research is in the field of sociology. I use interviews and participant observation to study (1) how Emirati women and men experience pro-women policies in their everyday lives and (2) hegemonic femininity and fitness.
