Personal Bio

Hello! My name is Shaharyar. I completed my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kashmir. I am currently a third-year PhD candidate in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering here at Princeton University. My doctoral research focuses on bio-derived carbon aerogels for energy and water applications.

Fun Fact

My first graduate conference was in Hawaii!

Research Pitch

My research centers on synthesizing and characterizing carbon aerogels from bio-based sources such as proteins. I'm investigating the fundamental mechanisms involved in forming these aerogels. The goal is to engineer these aerogel materials and apply them to address critical needs in energy applications, water treatment, and environmental remediation. My work involves materials design, characterization, and testing applications across the energy-water nexus.

I would be happy to discuss my background, research interests, and goals in more detail. Please feel free to ask me any additional questions! I look forward to connecting.
